Significance of 4th December:


The Indian Navy Day is observed on December 4 every year to recognise the valour, achievement, and role of the Indian Navy to the country. Operation Trident inflicted devastating losses on Pakistani shipping and its success is celebrated every year in India as  Navy Day.

1924- The Gateway of India is an arch-monument built in the early 20th century in the city of Bombay (Mumbai), India by the Scottish architect George Wittet. The Gateway of India is Opened to the public on December 4, 1924 by Rufus Isaacs, the viceroy of India.


1982 - The People's Republic of China adopts its current constitution.


1991- Pan American World Airways ceases its operations after 64 years.


1998- The Unity Module, the second module of the International Space Station, is launched.
