Significance of 12th July:



World Paper Bag Day is celebrated every year across the world on July 12. The day is dedicated to raising awareness about the environmental benefits of using paper bags instead of plastic bags. 


Malala Day is observed every year on July 12 to honor Malala Yousafzai who is the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate for her courageous advocacy and to highlight the global struggle for education.


1576- Mughal Empire annexes Bengal after defeating the Bengal Sultanate at the Battle of Rajmahal.

1799- Ranjit Singh conquers Lahore and becomes Maharaja of the Punjab (Sikh Empire).

1998- France won their first FIFA World Cup title, defeating defending champions Brazil 3–0.

2006- The 2006 Lebanon War begins. It was a 34-day armed conflict in Lebanon, fought between Hezbollah and Israel.

2012- Dara Singh was an Indian professional wrestler, actor and politician. He was the first sportsman to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha (upper house) of India.

2013- Pran Krishan Sikand was an Indian actor, known as the greatest villain ever in the history of Indian cinema.
