Significance of 26th April:



World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated every year on 26 April and it was established by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in 2000 to raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks, and designs impact daily life.


1929- First non-stop England to India flight lands.

1954- The first clinical trials of Jonas Salk's polio vaccine begin in Fairfax County, Virginia.

1962- The British space programme launches its first satellite, the Ariel 1.

1994- South Africa begins its first multiracial election, which is won by Nelson Mandela's African National Congress.

2008- Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh dedicated 390 MW hydropower project in Jammu and Kashmir to the country.
