Significance of 1st April:



April Fools' Day also known as All Fools' Day is an annual custom on 1 April consisting of practical jokes and hoaxes. According to some historians, it was first celebrated in 1852, when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar and some say that it is related to the turn of the seasons.


Odisha Foundation Day is celebrated on the 1st of April every year in memory of becoming a separate province on April 1, 1936.

1878- The new museum building in Kolkata was opened to the public.

1935- India's central banking institution, the Reserve Bank of India, is formed.

2004- Virender Sehwag smashed 309 in Multan, as India beat Pakistan by an innings and 52 runs and won its first test match on Pakistani soil.
